Size Charts

Not every body
is perfect- in fact,
most aren't.
Feel free to order a youth size top with adult size skirt-
or vice versa.
What really matters is getting a good fit.

AVERAGE FIT:
Sizing charts are for average fit.

SNUG FIT:
If you desire a close fit, alterations may be neccessary.

LOOSE FIT:
Making sure the uniform does not fall off is the objective here- unless you WANT to spend hours on alterations.
There is extra fabric in the side seams to let out later, as the student grows.
There is no extra length however, so you might want to consider ordering slightly longer- roll the waistband on the skirt and/ or hem the shell.

Measure normally. Look at where the student falls within the normal size range.

Lower end: Be careful about sizing up. Too big is almost as bad as too small.

Upper end of the size range- order the next size up.

Either way, prepare for possible alterations. Just in case.

Measuring Guide
PLEASE DO NOT GUESS SIZES!

Take a few minutes to measure!
Sizes are NOT normal street sizes.
Uniforms are non-refundable
& non-exchangable.
PLEASE ORDER CAREFULLY!
Fax or email your measurements and we will help recommend appropriate sizing.

Quick Measuring Guide:
DO NOT ADD TO MEASUREMENTS!!!

Bust/ Chest: Measure around the  chest at the fullest part.
Waistline: Measure around the waistline or where the
           skirt will be worn.
Hips: Measure around the body at the fullest part of the hips.
Back Length: Measure in back from the bone at the base of
the neck to desired length. Allow for skirt overlap!
Skirt Length: Measure from the top of the waistband to the
desired length in back (over buttocks).
Pants Inseam: Measure a pair of pants that fit well, down the
inside leg from crotch seam to hem.

Measuring Tips:

Have team members wear a leotard
or swimsuit for fast, accurate measuring.
Do NOT measuring over bulky garments.

Make sure the same (adult) person
measure all team members.

Have an assistant take notes while you measure- it's faster, easier and a lot less confusing!

Keep tape straight and snug- but not tight.

Shell Size Chart  &  Helpful Hints for Sizing Shells
Use the chest measurement and BWL (back waist length) for sizing.  DO NOT ADD TO BODY MEASUREMENTS!
Shells have a 1” side seam, which allows shell to be enlarged by up to 3 inches in width.
For a fitted look follow size chart exactly.
If you want a loose fit (see left), move up one size- but be prepared for alterations!

Shells will be standard length unless otherwise specified.   Shell length is "ideally" 1-2" longer than BWL.
Tall, busty, or long waisted girls or those wearing skirt below the NATURAL waistline may need longer lengths for tummy coverage.
Youth Shells
No bust allowance & smaller armholes.
Adult Shells
Moderate bust allowance & slightly larger armholes.

Fitting Tips for Sizing Skirts & Size Chart
Skirt sizing seems to be what confuses most people- so we will dedicate some extra hints to help out!
Fit Tip #1   DO NOT ADD TO BODY MEASUREMENTS!  Make sizing adjustments for "grow room" AFTER selecting "correct" size. See "Loose Fit" below for the best way to deal with grow room issues.
Fit Tip #2  Skirts SK225 & SK225T
Fit  HIPS first!  The waist is elasticized- so waist measurement is not critical.
If waist is much smaller than youth sizing allows- move to an adult size with comparable hips.
If waist is much larger than youth size shows- it's OK! it stretches!
If waist is larger than hips- use which ever is larger as the "hip measurement".
Fit Tip #3   Skirts SK209 & SK209T
Fit  WAIST first!  Pleats are open  to the waistband- so hips are not so critical.
If hips are 2- 3" bigger than youth sizing shows- use an adult size with a comparable waist, so pleats will lay flat.
Fit Tip #4   Many girls wear their skirts lower than their "natural" waist.   Be careful!
Unless otherwise noted, all skirts are meant to be worn up at the natural waist waistline.
We recommend the Low Rise- No Waistband Option for better "Low-Rise" fit (see Fit Tip #5)
But if you still want a regular waistband- here are our suggestions:
For ALL skirts with a waistband:  Measure where the student thinks their waist is.
Size the "waist" very snug. Don't add for "grow room". Just 1" too big, in this case, can slide down further than you think!
Most girls, who wear low rise skirts, fit better into youth sizes because of the smaller waist/ hip ratio.
Be prepared to possibly take in the hips or other alterations to perfect the fit. We do not guarantee fit.
Your length will probably be shorter than standard.
Double check that the shell will be long enough-  if you don't want to show skin!
Fit Tip #5   OPTIONAL Low Rise- No Waistband Skirts
-WITHOUT Waist Trim
Since this skirt doesn't have a traditional stiff  no-stretch waistband- the fabric itself will stretch for a snug comfortable fit.
Measure waist where the student will wear the skirt. To compensate for fabric stretch: SUBTRACT from that waist measurement: 1- 2" for small sizes,  2- 3" for medium sizes and  3- 4" for larger sizes. Size as usual.
Most girls, who wear low rise skirts, fit better into youth sizes because of the smaller waist/ hip ratio.
Don't add for "grow room". Just 1" too big, can slide or work it's way down further than you think!
Be prepared to possibly take in the hips or other alterations to perfect the fit.
Your length will probably be shorter than standard.
Double check that the shell will be long enough- if you don't want to show skin!

-WITH Waist Trim
If you are ordering a bodyliner or unishell with UltraFlex fabric and Stretch Braid- follow Fit Tip # 5 Sizing is same as without a waistband.
If you are ordering a traditional shell with normal non-stretch braid, the waist on the matching skirt will stretch less than above. Measure waist where the student will wear the skirt. SUBTRACT from that waist measurement: 1/2" for small sizes,  1 to 1-1/2" for medium sizes and  1-1/2 to 2" for larger sizes. Size as usual. Follow the other basic guidelines above. Expect to have some alterations to perfect the fit.
Fit Tip #6 General Sizing     Not every body is perfect- in fact, most aren't.
Feel free to order a youth size top with adult size skirt- or vice versa.
What really matters is getting a good fit!

AVERAGE FIT: Sizing charts are for average fit. For a fitted skirt, follow the "Sizing Skirts the Easy Way" chart below exactly.
BODY HUGGING SNUG FIT: If you desire a close fit, alterations will probably be neccessary!
LOOSE FIT:  Making sure the uniform doesn't fall off is the objective here- unless you WANT to spend hours on alterations!
There is extra fabric in the side seams of  "A-Line type" skirts to let out later, as the student grows. These skirts can be enlarged up to 3" in width. ALL skirts have 2-button waistband (except pull-ups or otherwise noted).
There is no extra length however, so you might want to consider ordering slightly longer and hem or roll the waistband?
Measure normally. Look at where the student falls within the normal size range.
Lower end: Be careful about sizing up. Too big is almost as bad as too small.
Upper end of the size range- order the next size up.
Either way, prepare for possible alterations. Just in case.

Size your skirts the EASY way!
(SK209/T, SK225/T & Low-Rise skirts see "Fit Tips" above before converting sizes)

FIRST:  Find the appropriate waist measurement on the chart- start with YOUTH.
Are the hips on the Youth Chart big enough?
Yes- Then that size is OK.
If hips are just 1" too snug- you are still probably OK,
there is some movement room built in the hip area!
NO-   Move to the adult size with the same waist.

Are the hips on the Adult Chart big enough now?
PROBLEM: Hips way too big on the Youth Chart?
If you have tried Youth Sizes & the hips are STILL
way too big, then you will probably need
alterations to take the hips in when you get it.
Yes- Then that size is OK.

NO- If it's just 1" too small- you are still probably OK There is some movement room built in the hip area.
If more hip room is needed, then you will probably need to fit the hips first & have the waist taken in when you get it.
NEXT:  Skirt Length
Skirts will be standard length unless another is specified.
Measure down the back from where you measured the waist over fullest part of buttocks.
Skirt length includes waistband.  Specify lengths in whole inches from 7 - 17"
Tall, long waisted or girls with larger "rear ends" may need longer lengths.
Shorter girls or those who wear their skirt below the NATURAL waistline may need shorter lengths.
Youth Skirts
Adult Skirts
Unless otherwise noted, all skirts are meant to be worn up at the natural waist waistline.
See "Fit Tip"# 4 above for suggestions for fitting below waist.
